Blake Gilmore, a resident of South Deerfield, is seeking a position as a member of the DeerfieldSelectboard. It is with great enthusiasm that we endorse his candidacy. We have known Blake Gilmore for 60-plus years, early on as a co-worker at the Tri-Town Beach and as a personal friend. Blake loves Deerfield and always helped various Deerfield groups.

Blake believes that his accomplishment as an Eagle Scout helped to develop his sense of community involvement. For seven years Blake developed and ran a Deerfield Police Explorer Program for youth interested in a law enforcement career. He maintained a personal training area at his Graves Street home, donating all the equipment to Frontier Regional School. When Blake’s father, Phillip Gilmore, started the ambulance program in Deerfield in 1973, Blake became a certified EMT for Deerfield at the age of 18 working through 1996. From 1988-1996, he was the director of Deerfield Rescue Ambulance. He has been recognized throughout his life for helping others in need, earning three lifesaving commendations: The American Red Cross Award for performing the Heimlich maneuver on a choking man, the American Legion Award for saving two people from a burning car, and the Massachusetts State Police Commendation for saving a drowning woman. In 1988, the State Police Chaplains Association awarded Blake the Father Rebokus Award as the trooper who gave back to his community and worked to develop character in youth.

Having grown up in Deerfield, Blake knows and understands the town’s history and historic significance and recalls the respected reputation Deerfield enjoyed as a fiscally responsible town. He has met with numerous townspeople who have voiced concerns about recent town decisions. Proud taxpayers now anxiously watch as their property taxes increase at a rate jeopardizing their dream to live here.

Blake is a business owner/operator with strong business kills. He is a dedicated, caring, intelligent, and loyal Deerfield citizen. He would be an outstanding leader for the town. Please vote for Blake Gilmore, Deerfield Selectboard member.
