SHELBURNE FALLS — “The Immigrants Among Us” is the subject of a free program Wednesday at 7:30 p.m at the Shelburne-Buckland Community Center, following the Shelburne Falls Area Women’s Club March business meeting at 7 p.m.

Laurie Millman, director of the Center for New Americans, will talk about the center’s work welcoming and serving many immigrants who have come to western Massachusetts to make their home. For 25 years, the center has been offering a variety of programs such as English and computer classes, assistance with career planning and applications for citizenship.

Millman who has been with the center for eight years will provide an overview of the diversity of people and cultures in our region and share stories about immigrants’ needs and successes.

All are invited to the program and welcome at the 6:30 p.m. social gathering which precedes the business meeting.

The Shelburne Falls Area Women’s Club was founded in 1925 and continues to serve the community by sponsoring a variety of community projects, including overseeing the Bridge of Flowers, providing annual scholarships to local college students, helping to serve community meals and sponsoring regular programs for members and the community at large. Annual dues are $25 and new members are welcome at any time. Those interested in membership may join at any meeting.
