GREENFIELD — Two drivers were taken to the hospital with what police said were non-life threatening injuries following a three-vehicle accident, including a FRTA bus, Wednesday morning.

According to police at the scene, at the turn lane on River Street, next to the Mohawk Trail Dunkin’ Donuts, a Toyota Equinox rear-ended an FRTA bus, which then hit into a Dodge van.

Approaching the left-turn lane. the Toyota may have been speeding, police said. It then hit into the back of a small FRTA bus, carrying one passenger, around 9:40 a.m. The bus then would hit a van in front of it.

The passenger on the bus was not injured and was given a courtesy lift to their destination by police. The drivers of the bus and Toyota were taken to the hospital.

Police officers at the scene said the driver of the Toyota may be issued a citation.

Police say they were told by the Toyota’s driver that he or she may have fallen asleep behind the wheel.

The intersection was clear by 10:07 a.m.
