Stance on hunting bylaw

Friday, January 26, 2018

Tom Wansleben in his My Turn essay on Jan. 22 embodies the very best hunting ethos. He’s also a first rate naturalist and lecturer with a deep commitment to wildlife.

However, hunters who show up at town meetings in camouflage, instead of quieter clothing, are blatantly out to intimidate. Landowners are right to want hunting bullies banned from their property. On the other hand, landowners who want their property to be more like gated communities should heed Wansleben’s advice, to begin seeing themselves as members of a larger community beyond the boundaries of their land.
