A heart-warming experience

I’ve been putting off coming down to Greenfield from Buckland to be a part of the Veterans Day parade and celebration. So I decided to put on my old uniform and come down, to join in the festivities.

I was surprised there weren’t a lot of people in our parade, but I was really happy to find that there were so many veterans at the end of the parade at the war memorial in Greenfield. It was a heart-warming experience. Along the way people were clapping and thanking us for our service.

And I am a very discerning human being and I must say I didn’t see one wing of our political party there. It was just plain folk.

And a great speech given by PJ my buddy, and the heartfelt ceremony, was just what I needed. We are the people who fell between the cracks. We are the veterans. We are the people that are there when you have a need. We are the last line drawn in the sand. Even though I served just stateside, I have a reverie for my comrades, male and female service members. Thank them, for you may need them someday.
