Precinct 1: Vote your values

I am writing to encourage Precinct 1 voters to choose your candidate based on who will best represent you, not based on fear.

For the past few weeks, I’ve knocked on doors in support of Debbie Richards, write-in city council candidate in Precinct 1. Most people have told me that their values are most aligned with Debbie’s.

Debbie is a vocal supporter of building a new library, becoming a Safe City, and funding our public schools. She’s been engaged in social justice work for over 25 years, and she’s not afraid to engage with voters and listen to and respect different views. She doesn’t just say she’ll be responsive; she immediately set up a Facebook page, website debbieforgreenfield.com, and campaign phone number so people can reach her easily.

Some people have told me they’re afraid of splitting the vote. But the fact of the matter is that in Precinct 1, we now have three choices. Whether we like it or not, votes will be split between them.

Based on my conversations with people at their doors, I believe that if we in Precinct 1 have the courage to vote for the candidate most aligned with our values, Debbie will win. We need truly different representation.

Debbie Richards is clearly the responsive and progressive choice. Precinct 1 voters, please join me in voting for the candidate who is most aligned with your values. If that’s not Debbie, I respect that. But if she is that person, please write in “Deborah Richards” on Nov. 5. Thank you.
