Agencies complicit in river life destruction

FirstLight's operation of the Northfield Mountain Pumped Storage on the Connecticut River in Massachusetts is an ecological travesty of the first order. Turbines kill hundreds of millions of eggs, larvae, juvenile and adult fish, and other assorted aquatic species every year in the river. Additionally, the pumped storage consumes 25 percent or more fossil fuel power than it later reproduces as electricity for the grid. We expect the agencies, both state and federal, who are charged with the protection of the river and its inhabitants to do their duty. They must not sign any agreements with FirstLight. They are destroying life in the Connecticut River.
