STURBRIDGE — The Franklin County Fair and the Heath Fair each came home with awards presented at the 2017 Massachusetts Agricultural Fairs’ Association (MAFA) Media Awards competition.

The awards were presented during the organization’s annual meeting Nov. 11 at the Sturbridge Host Hotel.

The Franklin County Fair received three second place honors in the Posters, Premium Books and Television Advertising categories, as well as a third place award for Newspaper Advertising — all in the Major Fairs designation.

The Heath Fair received four first place awards in the Radio Advertising, Brochures, Newspaper Advertising and Posters categories; second place honors in Website; and placed third for Advertising Specialties — all in the Medium Fairs designation.

Heath Fair also won the coveted Judges’ Choice award for its poster.

The awards are coordinated by Eastern States Exposition’s Noreen Tassinari, director of Marketing, and Catherine Pappas, Public Relations and Communications manager.

The competition takes place in October and is open to all fairs, festivals and agricultural shows who are members of MAFA. 2018 submissions will be accepted at The Big E’s Marketing department following The Big E next fall.
