Grateful for Senior Center and its dedicated staff and volunteers

We are an enthusiastic group of local senior citizens who wish to share our positive experience at the Greenfield Senior Center.

First, a brief history of how our new Senior Center evolved.

About 20 years ago, there was an idea that Greenfield badly needed a new senior center. After many years of advocacy, it finally came to a vote. You might remember seniors themselves attended Select Board meetings and spoke up. You might also remember seeing seniors on the Town Common demonstrating the need. The vote passed and the modern, attractive building was finally opened in 2018. It is now known as the John Zon Community Center. John was a long-time member of the Council on Aging and always voiced support for a new senior center.

The center offers a wide range of programs, activities and services for both mind and body. You can be as active as you like. There are more than 20 programs offered weekly. For example, MahJongg, bridge, and seated exercises; or more active pursuits like pilates and aerobics. Other activities open to all seniors include movie matinees, in-house lunch three times a week, Halloween and Christmas parties and engaging educational programs featuring local historians, authors, naturalists, actors and musicians to name a few.

With gratitude to the dedicated Greenfield Senior Center staff and volunteers,
