1st Franklin candidates forum Wednesday at Frontier

DEERFIELD — The League of Women Voters of Franklin County and Climate Action Now are presenting a series of state representative candidates’ forums in Western Massachusetts focused on climate and energy issues, including one Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Frontier Regional School in South Deerfield.

This forum, including all eight contenders for the 1st Franklin District House seat, which has been represented for 25 years by state Rep. Stephen Kulik, D-Worthington, will focus on the candidates’ positions on climate change and our energy future.

Candidates will be asked to differentiate how they understand and support proposed legislation to protect the environment and public health and to maintain economic vitality as well as a strategy for transforming the state’s energy consumption.

The district includes Ashfield, Buckland, Conway, Deerfield, Leverett, Montague, Shelburne, Shutesbury, Sunderland and Whately in Franklin County.
