GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Recorder will hold a forum Aug. 8 for the three candidates running for Greenfield mayor: Brickett Allis, Sheila Gilmour and Roxann Wedegartner.

The forum will be broadcast at 7 p.m. live on Greenfield Community Television (GCTV).

Prior to the city’s Sept. 10 primary election, the recorded forum will be aired other times; it will also be available on the station’s website at gctv.org.

“This will be an opportunity for the three candidates to speak on the issues facing the city,” Joan Livingston, the Recorder’s editor-in-chief, said. “The newspaper’s hope is that the forum will help voters decide who they want to elect as their next mayor.”

William Martin, the current mayor, is not seeking re-election in November.

The Recorder plans to hold another forum after the primary narrows the race to two candidates.

At the Aug. 8 forum, candidates will give introductory and closing statements. They will answer a series of questions posed by Livingston, who will be the forum’s moderator. The candidates will have a certain amount of time to respond to the questions and they will take turns answering first in each round. They will not be given the questions nor the topics ahead of time.

In preparation, the Recorder invites readers to send possible questions to: jlivingston@recorder.com.

The forum will be held at GCTV’s studio. Due to the studio’s size, however, the audience will not be open to the public.
