Writers’ Lunch: Monday through Thursday from noon to 2 p.m., the library’s LeVanway Room is open for Writers’ Lunch, a self-directed free writing time open to any writer who is looking for a place to work. Bring your own lunch and beverage and stop in for all or part of the Writers’ Lunch.

Open for Business: Telecommuters, local business people, and all others who are looking for reliable Wi-Fi and a quiet workspace are invited to use the library’s Greenfield Meeting Room on Monday and Friday from 2 to 5 p.m.

Not in Our Town Book Discussion: At 6 p.m. today, themes in “Mr. & Mrs. Prince: How an Extraordinary Eighteenth-Century Family Moved Out of Slavery and Into Legend” by Dr. Gretchen Holbrook Gerzina will be discussed. This fascinating true story is partially set in Deerfield. This is the second in a series of book discussions co-sponsored by the Greenfield Public Library and Not In Our Town: Greenfield. On Nov. 16, Dr. Gerzina will return to speak about her research for this book.

GPL Teen Movie Night: Teen Librarians Francesca and Steve invite all middle and high school kids on Tuesday and the first Tuesday of each month to join them in the library’s LeVanway Meeting room for pizza and a movie. This program is free and open to ages 12 and up. 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Mother Goose on the Loose: Join Kay Lyons on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m. at a lap-sit story hour for children age 3 and under, with a grownup, at the library. Kay reads books, leads the group in hand rhymes, and uses puppets to teach animal sounds and other concepts new to the very young. Each session is 45 minutes, with half an hour of structured activity and about fifteen minutes of visiting time.

Chess Club: Meet with other chess players, hone your skills, and have fun every Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m. at the library. Contact calderrossi@gmail.com with any questions. The last Wednesday of each month features a speed chess tournament.

Closed on Friday: The GPL will be closed on Friday, November 11 for Veterans’ Day.

Origami Animals: Learn the art of paper folding with Evangeline Heath, who shares her origami skills on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to noon.
