Northfield marijuana zoning forum tonight

NORTHFIELD — A public forum on marijuana zoning will be held tonight at 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Town Hall upstairs meeting room.

Northfield’s moratorium on marijuana businesses expires at the end of 2018. In preparation, the Planning Board wants to present a set of zoning bylaws regulating marijuana businesses for residents to vote on at a special town meeting in December. Otherwise, there will be no restrictions on where in Northfield marijuana businesses can open.

The public forum will give residents an opportunity to influence the Planning Board’s bylaws. This will be the second public forum the Planning Board holds on marijuana. At the first, in September, only two people showed up. Neither one expressed strong opinions on marijuana regulation.
