Cider pairing kicks off CiderDays weekend

NORTHFIELD — Cameron’s Winery will kick off CiderDays weekend on Friday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. with a pairing of nine cider varieties with nine foods. Tickets are $30 per person and can be reserved by calling 413-225-3420.

Additionally, cider tastings will be available on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Cider press demonstrations will be offered from 1 to 4 p.m. both days.

Other offerings include nine beers from The Back Room Brewing Co., doughnuts by Adam’s Donuts, a campfire, raffles and music. The music lineup is as follows: Celtic music by Terry McKeon on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.; bluegrass music by Ragged Blue on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m.; and classic rock performed by Northfield resident Eddie Hogan on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.

‘Forest Lights’ walk set for Sunday

NORTHFIELD — The second annual “Forest Lights,” a nighttime walk in the woods at Pioneer Valley Regional School, will be held on Sunday, Nov. 5, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Attendees can bring a flashlight or some flashlights will be available to borrow. Participants will meet in front of the school.

BERNARDSTON — The Bernardston Senior Center will host a celebration of Diwali, India’s largest holiday, on Monday, Nov. 6, at 3 p.m.

LEYDEN — A community lunch will be held at Town Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 8, from noon to 1 p.m.

The menu consists of sliced turkey and gravy with sweet potatoes, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie for dessert. Call Linda Allis at 413-834-4417 to place a reservation, which is highly recommended.

A talk featuring a guest speaker from the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Western Massachusetts will precede the lunch from 11 a.m. to noon. Discussion will center around the right to choose meaningful, dignified and affordable final arrangements.

BERNARDSTON — Baystate Franklin Medical Center respiratory therapist Bonnie Robert will discuss COPD support at the Bernardston Senior Center on Thursday, Nov. 9, at noon.

Ragged Blue to perform Nov. 11

NORTHFIELD — Ragged Blue will perform at The Brewery at Four Star Farms on Pine Meadow Road on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 5 to 8 p.m.

John Rough on banjo, Corki Demers on fiddle and mandolin, Joe Blumenthal on bass and Terry Atkinson on guitar perform bluegrass, Celtic, swing and pop tunes.

hosting two-part
art class

BERNARDSTON — My Art Company will present “Thumbnail Studies in Acrylics” with two classes at the Bernardston Senior Center on Nov. 14 and Nov. 28, both from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

This two-part series will focus on using thumbnail pictures to improve brushwork and techniques for mixing and layering colors in acrylics. Participants are encouraged to attend both workshops.

Workshop attendees will be working on paper for acrylics and with assorted brushes. Most supplies will be provided.

Advance registration is advised as the class is limited to 10 participants. A donation of $5 per session is appreciated to cover the cost of the program and supplies. Call 413-648-5413 for more information or to register.

Nov. 16: Senior Center hosting Thanksgiving meal

BERNARDSTON — The Bernardston Senior Center will host an early Thanksgiving meal on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 11:45 a.m.

Lunch will consist of roast turkey with gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables, wheat bread and pie. There is a $3 suggested donation.

Cookie swap planned for Nov. 16

BERNARDSTON — The Bernardston Senior Center will host a cookie swap on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 12:30 p.m.

Participants bake a few dozen of one or two kinds of cookie and then get to take home at least several different types of other treats. Those who sign up are asked to bring two cookies per package to trade, along with copies of the recipe.
