GREENFIELD — Discovery School at Four Corners Principal Suzanne Sullivan announced Wednesday night that she will leave at the end of the current school year to take a new job in her hometown of Billerica.
She has been principal at Four Corners for three years, and said the decision to leave was a difficult one.
Sullivan said she will serve as the new principal at Parker Elementary School. She and her siblings also attended that school as a child.
Her decision to take the job was personal, she noted, because she wanted to be closer to her family.
“It’s significant to say that 48 years ago I began my education at Parker Elementary, and it’s a great opportunity to go back July 1,” she said. “It’s not every day you get to be the principal at the school you went to,” she told The Recorder.
School Committee member Susan Hollins, who, as the former Greenfield school superintendent, hired Sullivan, thanked Sullivan for the time she has spent with Greenfield.
“You were my first choice when I hired you, when we had a new innovation school, and you kept us with an innovation school in Greenfield,” Hollins said. “You continued to make it a terrific school.”
