Call for art that might not be acceptable elsewhere

TURNERS FALLS — Nina’s Nook is holding the sixth edition of “Triple SSS: Sensual, Sexual, Smut” — an art show for work that might not be acceptable elsewhere, as described by gallery owner Nina Rossi.

To apply, send up to three sample JPEGs and contact information to Due to the small size of the gallery and past popularity of the show, small works are encouraged — frame sizes of 20 by 30 inches or smaller, or sculptures that can fit on an 8-inch-wide shelf or that can be suspended.

Participating artists must pay $10 to cover costs of the reception. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 15. The show is in February.

Erving Cultural Council seeks funding proposals

ERVING — Artistic projects and activities in Erving are eligible for grant funding through the Erving Cultural Council. Previous projects have included summer concert series, school author visits and programming for the senior center and library.

The Erving Cultural Council will distribute $4,800 in grants this year. The deadline to apply is Oct. 15.

Water shut-off date nears

MONTAGUE — On Monday, the Turners Falls Water Department will begin shutting off water to properties with water usage bills more than 90 days overdue.

The bills were mailed May 1 and were due June 1, according to a notice from the Water Department’s clerk and collector, Suzanne Leh.

Payments can be made at the Water Department office, 226 Millers Falls Road, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. A drop box is located to the left of the front door for payments after hours.
