In Advance: Bluegrass band Ragged Blue to perform in Turners Falls

Ragged Blue is ready to entertain on Friday, Jan. 11, as part of a benefit show for the Friends of the Discovery Center.

The show will start at 7 p.m. at the Great Falls Discovery Center, 2 Avenue A in Turners Falls.

Ragged Blue is a trio consisting of John Rough on banjo, Corki Demers on fiddle and mandolin, and Terry Atkinson on guitar. The trio’s music is an engaging combination of bluegrass, Celtic, old-time, originals and personal interpretations of popular songs. Their stock of instrumentals includes jigs, fiddle tunes and waltzes, while vocals include ballads, pop songs and a touch of raucous blues.

Doors open at 6:30 pm. Coffee and homemade baked goods will be available.

The suggestion donation is $6 to $12, though children will be admitted for free. Donations help the Friends of the Discovery Center provide free nature programming for the public.
