WARWICK — The North Quabbin Trails Association (NQTA) is sponsoring a Health and Fitness Expo on Sunday, May 15, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Lynrose Farm and Wellness Center, located at 145 Shepardson Road.
Hosts are Bobby Curley of Athol, president of the Orange-based NQTA, and Linda Styles of Warwick, founder and owner of the Wellness Center.
Attendees can learn about local hiking and mountain biking opportunities, as well as experience a sampling of healing and modalities, according to an event press release.
At the “healers tent,” people will be able to sample deep tissue massage, Chinese acupuncture, essential oils therapy, reiki and life coaching, the release continues. Martial arts, self-defense, yoga and meditation will also be demonstrated.
Brown Dog Bike Tours, under the leadership of Matt Sheldon, will offer a free opportunity for mountain bikers to go on a group ride with challenging terrain, starting at 10 a.m. at the center. Outer Limits Cycles & Skis of Greenfield will also display its goods.
NQTA membership — featuring a package of 28 trail maps — will be available for purchase, the release states. These maps cover a variety of hiking opportunities in the region between Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire and the Quabbin Reservoir in central Massachusetts.
Curley is also the subject of a lottery. Anyone who wants to go for a hike led by Curley can obtain a flyer that serves as a lottery entry by going online to nqta.org/events/nqta-health-fitness-expo. The individual must click on the green box, print out the lottery entry flyer and bring it to the expo to enter it for a drawing that day. Three winners will be chosen.
There is a $20 admission fee that includes parking and refreshments (while supplies last), with a reduced fee of $5 for children ages 3 to 12. Children under 3 will be admitted for free.
