H.S. Roundup: Tech’s Anne Kolodziej scores 50th goal of her career in win over Pathfinder

Anne Kolodziej’s scoring tear continued for the Franklin Tech girls soccer team on Friday. 

Taking on Pathfinder, Kolodziej put four goals in the back of the net to help the Eagles pick up an 8-1 Bi-County League victory in Turners. 

The fourth and final goal gave the senior 50 for her career. 

“Anne is one of the hardest working soccer players that I’ve been around,” Franklin Tech coach Jay Butynski said. “Her and her sister [Ella Kolodziej] have meant a lot to the growth of this program over the last four years. I’m really happy for her to hit this milestone.”

Tech held a 6-0 lead at the half. Ella Kolodziej scored on a free kick and added two assists, Alyssa Peters scored her first career varsity goal while adding an assist while Kyra Goodell and Mia Marigliano rounded out the Eagle goalscorers. Mady Lynde, Elise Wolfe, Kaelyn Mclean and Layla Hammond provided assists while Kylee Gamache and Sheyenne Ballentine combined for two saves in the win. 

Easthampton 3, Mahar 1 — Ana Growhoski scored a pair of goals for the Eagles in a Pioneer League North win over the Senators in Easthampton on Friday. 

Megan Parse had Mahar’s lone tally, scoring in the second half. Alivia Patch came up with 14 saves in the loss. 

Boys soccer

Pioneer 1, Gateway 0 — Alex McClelland knocked in a header sent in by Mason Cummings to lift the Panthers to a Schmid League win over the Gators in Huntington on Friday.

Turners Falls 2, Holyoke 1 — Yolvin Ovalle and Aras Wiles scored for the Thunder to knock off the Purple Knights in Holyoke on Friday. 

Noah Koloziej added an assist in the victory. 

Greenfield 1, Smith Academy 0 — Caleb Thomas found the back of the net in the 19th minute and it stood as the game-winner, with the Green Wave earning a Schmid League win over the Falcons in Greenfield on Friday. 

Clivens Carter-Michel assisted the goal while Liam Grahame-Lawson made five saves in the win. Jake Wilcox stopped five shots for Smith Academy. 

Golf

Pioneer 173, Easthampton 225 — Mike Stennes (41), Ben Werner (42), Bryaden Thayer (44) and Ethan Mauthe (46) scored for the Panthers in a win over the Eagles at Holyoke Country Club on Friday. 

Volleyball

Frontier 3, Athol 0 — The Redhawks made the trip to Mallet Gymnasium and walked away with a 25-12, 25-8, 25-16 sweep over the Bears in an independent match on Friday. 

Caroline Deane tallied 10 kills and three aces, Allie Pierce dished 18 assists and added four aces, Gabby Adams recorded six kills and one ace while Abigail Hernandez put down two kills and four aces in the win. 

Alma White (three kills, four assists, one ace), Anna Duquette (two kills, one assist) and Giana Vaillancourt (one kill, seven assists) contributed for Athol. 

Turners 3, Easthampton 0 — After squeaking out a win in the opening set the Thunder turned it on to win comfortable in the final two sets to walk away with a 27-25, 25-15, 25-15 sweep over the Eagles in an independent match in Easthampton on Friday. 

Taylor Greene (21 assists, four kills, five aces, four digs), Madi Liimatainen (17 kills, two aces, four digs), Janelle Massey (six kills, three aces, four digs) and Maddie Dietz (one ace, five digs) had big games in the win for Turners.

Boys soccer

Frontier 4, Wahconah 0 — The Redhawks raced out to a 3-0 lead at the half before cruising to a Moriarty League victory in South Deerfield on Thursday. 

Nico Fasulo finished with a pair of goals and assists, Rosco Palmer recorded a goal and an assist while Ian Paciorek also found the back of the net in the win. Owen Babb made four saves while Jack Cusson stopped one shot for Frontier. 

Field hockey

East Longmeadow 3, Frontier 2 — The Redhawks were unable to hand the Spartans their first loss of the season, falling in an independent contest in East Longmeadow on Thursday. 

Kate Walker and Hailey Hutkoski scored for Frontier, with Claire Kirkendall providing an assist. Kyra Richards made 15 saves in the loss.
