GREENFIELD — City Council President Karen “Rudy” Renaud mixed up the committee assignments of her fellow council members with an eye toward the November elections.

With six councilors up for election, some of whom have already said they don’t plan on running again, Renaud said there is the possibility of a significant amount of turnover on a council that already has a handful of first-time elected officials.

Renaud appointed two of the new councilors head of two major committees in town to help spread around experience.

“The councilors who are here and are staying and don’t have experience chairing need to get that experience,” Renaud said.

Ways and Means chairman is now Precinct 7 Councilor Otis Wheeler, who will be joined by Precinct 3 Councilor Brickett Allis, Precinct 5 Councilor Tim Dolan, Precinct 8 Councilor Doug Mayo and At-Large Councilor Isaac Mass. Previously At-Large Councilor Ashli Stempel led this committee.

Appointments and Ordinances chairwoman is now Precinct 6 Councilor Sheila Gilmour, who will be joined by Precinct 1 Councilor Verne Sund, At-Large Councilor and Vice President Penny Ricketts, Mass and Mayo. Previously Ricketts chaired the committee.

Economic Development Committee chairwoman is now Stempel. She will be joined by Precinct 4 Councilor Wanda Pyfrom, the eventual replacement councilor for Precinct 2, Dolan and Ricketts. Previously Precinct 9 Councilor Daniel Leonovich chaired the committee.

Community Relations and Education Committee chairman is now Leonovich. He will be joined by Allis, Pyfrom, Sund and the Precinct 2 councilor. Previously Mass chaired the committee.
