GREENFIELD — Mayor Roxann Wedegartner announced on Friday plans for a limited reopening of city offices.

Beginning Wednesday, May 27, City Hall on Court Square and the Department of Public Works Office on Wells Street will be open to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to a press release from Wedegartner’s office.

Within City Hall, the Clerk’s Office, City Council Office and the Treasurer/Collector’s Office will be open to the public during these times, but with strict guidelines for visitors and employees.

Visitors will be asked to sign in at the side door and are required to practice social distancing and wear face coverings when inside the building. According to the release, if City Hall reaches capacity, visitors will be asked to wait outside where a tent will be set up.

The Mayor’s Office, Licensing Department, Assessor’s Office and Retirement Office remain open by appointment only.

Wedegartner also announced the Upper Pioneer Valley Veterans Services District on Main Street is now open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., but by appointment only.

Other public buildings, including the Greenfield Public Library, John Zon Community Center, Recreation Department, Inspections Department and Health Department remain closed to the public, but can be reached by phone or email.

According to the release, business hours for all city departments, regardless of whether they are open to the public, are still Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. As the city announces its limited reopening, Wedegartner is encouraging residents to continue doing city business remotely.
