NORTHFIELD — Crews are working to repair a water main break on Maple Street, which became apparent at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to Northfield Water District Commissioner Michael Quinn, traffic is cleared to travel on Main Street. A section of Maple Street is closed to traffic while crews repair the water main.

“We just found the hole in the pipe, now we have to repair it,” Quinn said at 3:15 p.m. Thursday.

Quinn said he hopes to have the water back on sometime this evening.

Town Administrator Andrea Llamas said she was notified by Jay Nelson, a member of the Northfield Water District, and had received multiple “frantic” phone calls. A notice was then posted to the Northfield town website.
