Bulletin board: Frontier’s Evan Hedlund shines at Indoor Nationals

Frontier’s Evan Hedlund showed well against the top middle school runners in the country on Friday. 

Competing in the mile at the Nike Indoor Track Nationals at The Armory in New York City, Hedlund finished the mile in a time of 4 minutes, 43 seconds, earning him fourth place overall and first in his heat. 

It's the first national race the eighth grader has competed in.

Smith, Babson fall in Elite 8

Seeking the first Final Four in program history, the Babson College women’s basketball team saw its terrific season come to an end on Saturday night.

Greenfield’s Sam Smith scored eight points and blocked four shots, but the Beavers dropped a 60-47 decision to Rhode Island College in the NCAA Division 3 quarterfinals at Staake Gymnasium in Babson Park.

Babson, which was playing in its first sectional final since 2011, ended the season at 26-6 overall.

Smith concluded her Babson career ranked third in program history with 126 blocked shots, which included 71 rejections this season.
