Bulletin Board: Local drivers open Monadnock Speedway season with wins

Two Franklin County drivers and one with a county-based sponsor captured victories at last weekend’s season-opening event at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H.

On Saturday, six-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Doug Coby, sponsored by Mayhew Tools of Turners Falls, took the No. 7 Tommy Baldwin Racing entry to Victory Lane in the Duel at the Dog 200.

On Sunday, Gill’s Owen Zilinski took the win in the Young Guns feature, while Orange’s Cole Littlewood earned the checkered flag in the NHSTRA Outlaws feature.

Gill’s Zach Zilinski was second in the Pure Stock event, while Turners Falls’ JD Stockwell finished fourth in the NHSTRA Late Models.

The next Monadnock event is Military Appreciation Night on May 20.

Savannah Thomas, Mia Beckwith and Alissa Battistoni each had four hits while Adie Abercrombie knocked three hits in Pristine Oriental’s 11-2 win over Precision Driving School on Monday. 

Caroline Lively and Ava Martin both tallied two hits for Precision.

Kendall Bernard tallied four hits and Layla Bailey and Tianna Valdez each had three hits for Pristine.

Zelda Rossi and Lucas Wallner both had multiple hits to lift Parody Builders to a 10-7 win over Martin's Farm on Monday in a Rookie League contest. 

Cooper Deane and Dimitri Gioules contributed hits for Martin's Farm.

■ On Sunday Ollie Nestor had three hits while Zach Bensen knocked two hits in Gruber and Tripp’s 7-3 win over Parody Builders in a rookie league contest. Natalie Belville and Phillip Hannon both had two hits in the loss. 

■ In AA action on Sunday Owen Little had three hits while Braith Brothers, Vinny Toothacker and Dezmond Jurkowski each had two hits in Fitzgerald Real Estate’s 8-7 win over Ruggeri Real Estate. 

Xaviar Gibbons and Cody Castine each had three hits while Gabe Heinemann tallied three hits and two RBIs and struck out three on the mound for Ruggeri. 

■ In a AAA contest on Sunday Jay Philstetler and Ben Shivone each knocked two hits while Parker Gerry doubled in Denny’s Pantry’s 5-4 victory against Lundgren Honda. 

JJ Bones knocked two hits while Noah Knox, Andrew Ruggeri and Quinn Gibbons hit safely for Lundgren.
