After dropping the opening set, Athol High School rallied to move above the .500 mark on Tuesday.

The visiting Red Raiders overcame a slow start and ripped off the final three frames en route to a 19-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19 victory over Belchertown in a PVIAC Eastern Division boys volleyball match.

Athol improved to 2-1 overall with the win, 2-1 in the East.

“We didn’t really come ready to play, we’ll have to be more prepared to start matches moving forward,” Athol coach Harrison West-Mather said.

Belchertown dropped to 0-5, 0-3.

Zack Aldrich paced the offensive attack with 11 kills, and added 13 digs and an ace for the Red Raiders, while Joey Gray joined him in double figures with 10 kills and a pair of blocks. Setter Colby Soltysik dished out 26 assists, put down seven aces and five kills.

The Red Raiders are back in action Friday with a match against Putnam.
