DEERFIELD — The Bridal Barn and Tux Shoppe intends to honor its vows to brides, grooms and prom-goers after it closes up shop for the final time next week.
Co-owner Shelley Avery said sub-contracted seamstresses will tend to customers’ needs ahead of their big day, though the rustic structure at 425 Greenfield Road will shutter its doors at 2 p.m. on April 13. She said seamstresses will handle alterations on fulfilled orders at their homes.
“The customers are very well taken care of – that’s the way the staff is here,” Avery said this week.
Avery has been a co-owner for five years. The other co-owner is a silent partner she declined to disclose. The business opened in 1989. Avery said she is retiring and unsure of what her future holds.
“I’ve loved my time here,” she said. “It’s really been a nice experience.”
Avery said the Bridal Barn has had customers from all over New England and New York.
An initial announcement of impending closure at the end of the year was made on Facebook on Oct. 23, 2018, though the business remained open. A Facebook post on March 6 announced the April 13 closing date.
