Botanical Illustration

Using graphite pencils, technical pens and watercolors, learn how to create botanical illustrations of plants, trees and flowers at Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary, 127 Combs Road in Easthampton, on Mondays from Feb. 27 through April 3 from 9 a.m. to noon. The fee is $235 for members and $255 for nonmembers. This is an adult class instructed by Jan Ruby-Crystal, professor of art and design.

Subjects will be selected from the plant life that thrives at Arcadia. Learn to identify and illustrate important key features, such as leaf, tree and flower types.

Classes will be held Feb. 27, March 6, 13, 20 and 27 and April 3. Registration is required by calling 413-584-3009.

History of the Valley for homeschool students.

Children ages 5 to 12 who love science will love the hands-on program offered by Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary during February vacation. The cost (includes transportation for field trips) is $145 for members and $175 for nonmembers.

The Connecticut River Valley has a story to tell and Arcadia’s homeschool program is going to help tell it. The six-week class will explore the history of the valley via hiking, field trips and research.

It’s a drop-off program; however, well-behaved parents and siblings are welcome if necessary for your student’s success. Registration is required by calling 413-584-3009.
