SHELBURNE — Building on the success of its antique tractor shows, Apex Orchards will cater to a different crowd of motorized vehicle enthusiasts with its inaugural antique car show this weekend.

The show will be held Sunday, Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the farm, located at 154 Peckville Road. Jacob Fleron, assistant manager at Apex Orchards, invites owners of classic cars and trucks to come and go throughout the day. The event, which will not be a structured exhibition, requires no registration and no prizes will be awarded.

While Apex Orchards grows peaches, apples, pears, blueberries and other crops, Fleron said the farm also enjoys hosting between four and six large-scale events during the two-month farm store season, both to attract people to the orchard and to promote other local businesses.

“We try to pack in (events) pretty much every weekend that we’re open,” Fleron said.

The events, which take place every weekend in August and September with the exception of Labor Day weekend, include the annual Peach Fest on Aug. 27 and Aug. 28, as well as a showcase of live birds of prey. September will see Apex Orchards host the Apples and Artisans Show, along with the antique tractor show.

Fleron said he originally got the idea for the inaugural antique car show when talking to some of his neighbors, who own classic cars themselves. Noting how Apex Orchards has held the antique tractor show several times in the past, Fleron felt that a classic car show would be the logical follow-up to that event.

While the car show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the farm store will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, Hitchcock Brewing Co. and Vegan Pizza Land will sell food and beverages.
