GREENFIELD — One local business and several area legislators will be honored next month at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Franklin County and the North Quabbin’s annual Hope, Healing & Help Breakfast.

The event will take place Friday, Sept. 15, at 7:30 a.m. in the Dining Commons at Greenfield Community College. The Children’s Advocacy Center offers a safe environment at its Wisdom Way offices for children to be interviewed who have disclosed physical or sexual abuse.

“The CAC exists because of the support and generosity of the community, and because the community wants us to be here and needs us to be here,” said Executive Director Jeffrey Trant. “This is really our opportunity … to share with the community what’s been happening, and it’s a time we ask folks to contribute to help support our mission.”

The center’s fundraising goal for this year’s breakfast is $40,000, Trant said. Last year, the nonprofit raised $39,773.

The morning will include words from keynote speaker Donna Lloyd, a family member who has used the services of the Children’s Advocacy Center, according to Trant.

“Donna Lloyd is a very important member of the CAC family,” he said. “She ... will really be able to provide the most important perspective, which is that of one of our families.”

Among those to be recognized at the event will be Kimberly Williams and Nick Waynelovich of Ja’Duke Center for Performing Arts as the Champions of Children.

“Ja’Duke, as a child and youth-serving organization, helps build and helps support really positive youth development,” Trant said. “There’s no greater partner than Ja’Duke, helping to create opportunities for children … in healthy and supportive ways.”

Additionally, Sens. Jo Comerford and Paul Mark and Reps. Natalie Blais and Susannah Whipps will receive the Heroes of Justice Award.

“Since we first opened our doors, Sens. Comerford and Mark and Reps. Blais and Whipps of the Franklin County legislative delegation have championed and supported our mission,” said Bill Benson, president of the Children’s Advocacy Center’s board of directors. “As a result of their advocacy and leadership, Franklin County and North Quabbin residents have increased access to vital services offered by the CAC. They are true Heroes of Justice.”

The Children’s Advocacy Center’s board of directors is hosting the event and Greenfield Savings Bank is the premier sponsor.

There is no cost to attend the breakfast; however, as it is a fundraiser to benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center, attendees will be asked to make a donation. Guests are asked to register in advance, as capacity is limited to 240.
