SUNDERLAND — All parties involved declined medical treatment following a three-vehicle accident Monday afternoon, when a rear-ended car was knocked into oncoming traffic on Route 47.

Sunderland Police Chief Erik Demetropoulos said he and Sgt. Brendan Lyons responded to the intersection of Route 47 and Plumtree Road for a report of an accident shortly before 4 p.m.

Demetropoulos explained a 36-year-old Sunderland woman was heading southbound on Route 47 and slowed down to take a left turn onto Plumtree Road. At that point, the 2014 Subaru Impreza she was driving was struck from behind by a 2008 Saturn Outlook driven by a 22-year-old Sunderland woman.

The impact sent the Impreza into the northbound lane, where it was struck by a 2007 Subaru Legacy driven by a 33-year-old Charlemont man. The Impreza was also carrying a passenger, Demetropoulos said.

The chief said everyone involved in the accident spoke with South County EMS personnel and all declined transport to a hospital.
