A day after a major snowstorm that brought with it record high tides and coastal flooding in 32 Massachusetts communities, Gov. Charlie Baker and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito will hit the road with local officials to assess damage and discuss recovery efforts.

The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency said Thursday night that the day’s coastal flooding “will likely take hours to days to drain in some areas” and warned of the potential for standing water to freeze after temps plunged on Friday.

MEMA will conduct an initial damage assessment to estimate costs of emergency response and damage to infrastructure, and determine the likelihood of qualifying for federal disaster assistance.
