Bulletin Board: Dobbins’ double-double powers Greenfield middies over Athol

Tarrod Dobbins recorded a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds as Greenfield Middle School knocked off Athol Middle School, 37-22, in a boys’ basketball game Friday afternoon in Greenfield.

Nate Haselton scored 10 points in the win.

Evan Saisa led Athol with 13 points.

GMS girls win

Samantha Smith scored 14 points on Friday to lead Greenfield Middle School to a 34-19 win over Athol Middle School in girls’ basketball action in Greenfield.

Raegan Hickey added 10 points for the Wave, which improved to 7-1.


Newt Guilbault meeting

The New Guilbault Community League will hold its annual meeting for election of officers on Monday night at 6:30 at the St. Kazimierz Society Hall in Turners Falls.

The general public is welcome to attend.

Road race

Sleigh Bell Run

The Greenfield Recreation Department, as part of the 2014 Greenfield Winter Carnival, will hold the Sleigh Bell Run on Feb. 1 at 10 a.m.

The 4-mile run begins on Hope Street and goes through Highland Park.

Pre-registration can be done at the Recreation Department or Town Hall and costs $15 if done before 3 p.m. today. After today, registration costs $20. Runners can also register on race day at Hope & Olive Restaurant from 8:45 to 9:30 a.m. Runners under age 18 are half price.

Volunteers are still needed for the event. Volunteers and the first 75 runners to register will receive a free T-shirt. There will be free refreshments after the race.

IAS Driving range

The Indoor Action Sports Driving Range will open starting on Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m.

The January gold schedule will continue every Wednesday and Friday afternoon from 1 to 3.

The February and March golf schedule will take place on Wednesday (3 to 5 p.m.) and Friday (1 to 3 p.m.).
