Letter: Sisters of St. Joseph
In earlier times in Franklin County, the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s, of our many grandparents and parents hailed from many foreign countries. The economy was tight, but the sacrifices were made and Catholic education for all and Catholic education prevailed.
The good nuns, the Sisters of Saint Joseph, today operate a No. 1 nursing home, Mount Marie in Holyoke. With the economy sluggish and the cost of medical expenses out of sight, the good sisters are presently fundraising.
Many student acquired worthy positions. Many chose the following: priests, nuns, doctors, nurses, lawyers, judges and business professionals. Many achieved worthy positions. All this was due to the sisters of St. Joseph. They gave us their all.
The motto today “Ask and you shall receive.” The nuns ask our help today. The good sisters gave so much of their time to us. Let’s give our time to them. Any time a student needed special education, they were there. Today the cost of living is out of sight. Open up your pocketbooks today. A dollar or two won’t hurt. They are still giving of themselves in medical issues.
Whatever you can give to the sisters in their time of need, be assured of daily prayers for your needs from the Sisters of St. Joseph.
