Letter: Neighbor to neighbor
To my neighbor Michael Joyce on my article on “Free Stuff.” I must say I thought I was listening to Jimmy Swaggert, preaching Scripture from his pulpit. You are correct, we are worlds apart in the political arena, but let’s agree to disagree.
You told me “Read your Bible soldier,” with all due respect, I was in the U.S. Army, not your Army. You then told me to check out the Koran, the book of peace and beheading, Plato, on Greek philosophy, and Tao, the road or path to Confucius. I have no idea what the U.S. Constitution has to do with the subject at hand.
As far as caring for the poor, I have a little Scripture to quote myself. “God helps those who help themselves,” and “teach a man to fish and he’ll never go hungry.”
I don’t think God said, “Love even the Aliens in our midst.” (replace Aliens with Enemies and I think you may have something there, it has something to do with, Turn the other cheek.)
I do thank you for taking the time to write a letter of civil debate, it shows someone is paying attention. There has never been true peace for over 2,000 years.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
