Letter: My candidacy
I recently learned there was no wait time required for a retiring school employee to hold elected office. And so late, but with eagerness and energy, I am putting my name — Donna Gleason — before the community as a write-in candidate for School Committee. My father, former Greenfield Principal Al Sommer, had a keen appreciation for Greenfield and a good education, and he passed that on to me.
For those who want School Committee members to work for change and innovation, please write me in as your candidate for School Committee. I am an independent thinker with 41 years in education as teacher and administrator. I have never seen Greenfield schools as exciting, challenging and innovative as they are today, but we can still improve.
Families are returning to Greenfield schools. Educators from other districts are applying here because they want to work in a system with positive energy. Please do not let this energy be undermined.
I ask you to write in Donna Gleason and vote on Tuesday, June 25. I ask all the parents of Greenfield students — if you are pleased with how our schools have improved and the innovation that has been introduced, please support me in this election.
