I remember the beginning of the downsizing of Franklin Medical Center. It started in 1980. Rehabilitation was gone.
Then in 1995, the LPN nurses were gone or else had to work as nurses aides. I was a part of that movement and I understand now that it had to happen.
But now I realize there is a greater problem at Baystate Franklin. We need a strong team that realizes we need this hospital for this great area.
I know you both have many concerns. I do also. You are caring for very acute types of people today. Nurses should only be working 8-hour shifts. Nurses get tired and they have to handle a lot.
I know when you come to the table again, both parties should come in loyal faith to end other and to the future of this great hospital. Nurses should not have to worry about their sick time. So Baystate Franklin Administration and Massachusetts Nurses Association please settle without a strike. And be faithful to each other so that quality care and service can continue to this community.
