Letter: Library transformation
Amazingly, incredibly, our marvelous Greenfield Library has undergone changes that have burnished an already gleaming organization. Somehow, the librarians, headed by Ellen R. Boyer (she received a New York Times Librarian of the Year Award for outstanding community service), have managed to improve on what was just about a perfect place. It’s even more welcoming than before, open, airy and comfortable. Over the decades, from the time when I was an editor in Manhattan for a leading publishing company, New York editors automatically called the New York library for answers. That habit hasn’t died. Wherever I lived after moving from New York, I’d turn to the library for help. No place quite measured up to the New York library until I moved to Greenfield. Informed, dedicated, resourceful and friendly, what’s not to love about the staff and all they offer us? Thank you, library staff and volunteers.
