Letter: We need these 3
After reading Lynn Waldron’s My Turn about the true facts about Walmart, we need leaders on our Town Council who are willing to look at the facts, the record, the wider impact on our community of such choices. Even though the Wal-Mart one will be decided in the courts, we need a council that will stand up for the principles of sustainability and resilience that will keep our local economy going in the right direction — toward jobs that pay a living wage and don’t flood our market with food full of pesticides and GMOs that will put Foster’s out of business and the 49 local farmers he sells for.
Mark Wisnewski, as our council president, has given strong leadership in challenging appointments to the boards that make these decisions when those appointments would take us in the wrong direction. He is a competent leader with a commitment to our master plan’s direction of sustainable development.
Rob Wainstein is a fine citizen of our community who has lent his expertise and caring to the boards of NELCWIT, The Justice Center, and our Community Health Center as well as giving leadership to the concerns of seniors. Hillary Hoffman has worked tirelessly and passionately to protect our environment and the rights of Native Americans as a member of the Ordinance Committee. She answers every email from her constituents and has done her own research of issues of concern to them.
Together these three candidates will put Greenfield in good hands to shape our future as the exemplary Green community we aspire to be. Please vote for Wisnewski, Wainstein and Hoffman on June 10.
