NEW SALEM — The Swift River Valley Historical Society is the leading resource in preserving the artifacts, stories and records of the lost towns of the Quabbin Valley. It also collaborates with communities, organizations and agencies to provide educational opportunities and programs about the history of this region and ensures appropriate protection of those resources and artifacts related to the Quabbin watershed.

The Society’s Board of Directors has two openings and is looking for individuals with time to volunteer beyond a monthly business meeting, a genuine interest or professional experience in the work of maintaining the museums, experience in financial management and/or fundraising and experience or interest in planning programs and events that keep the history of the Quabbin Valley and the lost towns alive for future generations.

Those interested may email a letter of interest to judyeiseman@comcast.net indicating their motivation for serving on the board and listing any skills, hobbies, abilities, talents or areas of expertise that might be useful even if not directly related to the mission of the Society. A resume may be helpful but is not required. Meetings will be scheduled as letters of interest are received.

The deadline is Sept. 16. For more information go to swiftrivermuseum.org.
