Sawmill River restoration project complete; view results today at 5:45 p.m.
MONTAGUE — The Franklin Conservation District will host a public site visit at the recently restored Sawmill River today at 5:45 p.m. to showcase the results of the project.
A walk and talk will take place at the restoration site on North Leverett Road, west of Route 63 and east of Route 47. Franklin Conservation District officials will present the final as-built plans for the project at 6:30 p.m. during a meeting of the Montague Conservation Commission in Town Hall, 1 Avenue A, Turners Falls.
The recent work in and around a portion of the Sawmill River is intended to help reduce erosion and sediment loads and improve water quality and habitat for fish and other wildlife.
The project was funded through a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.
