GREENFIELD — Police are looking for a man who robbed at gunpoint the TD Bank branch at 324 Main St. shortly before noon Sunday.

Sgt. Mark Williams of the Greenfield Police Department said a man wearing a ski mask and sunglasses entered the bank, which is open on Sundays, and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man appeared to be armed with a semi-automatic pistol, Williams said.

“He showed it immediately upon entering the bank, you can see it clearly in the surveillance video, clearly pointing it at the teller,” Williams said.

Williams said other employees and at least one customer were in the bank at the time. The man did not fire the gun and no one was hurt, he said.

The man, described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, a black mask, sunglasses and carrying a black handgun, left through the rear entrance onto School Street according to police.

Time stamps on still frames from surveillance footage show the suspect pointing a gun across the counter at 11:46 a.m. and standing at the rear entrance at 11:47 a.m.

Police logged a call reporting the robbery at 11:51 a.m.

A Franklin County Sheriff’s office K-9 followed a trail to the porch of a Chapman Street residence, according to police.

Williams said police checked the building and it may or may not be related. Area departments were advised to be on the lookout for a small, silver or gray Jeep Liberty-sized sport utility vehicle Williams said may have picked up the suspect.

Police ask that anyone with information call the station at 413-773-5411.
