Greenfield turns to Northfield for asst. clerk
GREENFIELD — The town has hired Northfield’s town clerk as its new assistant town clerk.
Gail V. Zukowski will be working with Town Clerk Deborah Tuttle and two other employees in the town clerk’s office in Town Hall.
Zukowski, who has been Northfield’s town clerk since 2000, said she is looking forward to working in Greenfield.
“I’ve known Deb for 14 years,” said Zukowski, who is a certified town clerk.
Mayor William Martin said Zukowski was chosen from a half-dozen candidates because of her experience and knowledge.
“The town is trying to do the best for its departments and for the community,” said Martin. “I think she will be a great help to us.”
He said Zukowski will start in June.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” said Zukowski. “I’m excited.”
Zukowski will be going from a town of 3,000 to one of 18,000 residents.
“It’s a whole different form of government,” said Zukowski. “I can’t wait for the new challenge.”
Longtime Greenfield Town Clerk Maureen Winseck retired earlier this year and Tuttle, who had been the town’s longtime assistant town clerk, was hired to replace Winseck.
“I look forward to working closely with Gail and building a strong and informative team,” said Tuttle. “Her years of experience and vast knowledge of the duties and obligations of the town clerk’s office will produce a smooth transition within this office.”
