High tension line problem disrupted Turners power
MONTAGUE — Turners Falls firefighters were alerted to an electrical grid issue Monday night at 7:19 when the power went out at the firehouse, followed by several 911 calls.
Acting Capt. Kyle Cogswell said it appears the issue was with a high-tension line behind Connecticut River Internists, off Montague City Road.
“What we’re thinking is that a tree has come down on the high tensions in the swamp back there,” Cogswell said. “(Western Mass. Electrical Co.) is making the rest of the necessary repairs.”
Speaking at 9 p.m., Cogswell said WMECO had already restored power to the town and technicians were heading out into the swamp to find the problem.
Greenfield Fire Department reported a probably related power surge at the Middle School.
