Gill chief to lead Western Mass. Chiefs Association
GILL — Police Chief of 19 years David W. Hastings is now president of the Western Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association.
Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan swore Hastings in as president for a two-year term earlier this month in Holyoke.
Hastings said he has served as first and second vice president during the past two terms.
The regional association meets monthly to exchange information relating to law enforcement issues and comprises current and former police chiefs of Berkshire, Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden County cities and towns.
Hastings said the position is elected by members, and the role of the post is to provide leadership, guidance and representation for the 111 communities involved.
