Gill energy campaign sign-up

GILL — The Gill Energy Commission has arranged for residents to come to town hall Saturday to sign up for free energy audits with Co-op Power, and if they have not already done so, to sign up for the Gill energy reduction campaign.

The sign-up runs from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Gill Town Hall, 325 Main Road.

In April the Gill Energy Commission began a campaign to reduce energy use in town by 13 percent in 2013. The first 100 homes in Gill to sign up for a home energy assessment and join the campaign receive a Gill energy reduction lawn sign.

The committee was at 32 percent of its goal this month. Gill residents interested in signing up may contact Energy Commission members Pamela Lester 413-222-9674 or Janet Masucci at 413-863-8694.

Rag Shag Parade planned for Erving

ERVING — Calling all ghosts, ghouls, goblins, gnomes, potted plants and anything else you might have a costume of.

The Recreation Commission’s annual Rag Shag Parade meets the evening of Halloween at 5:30 in the Park Street Park, in the Erving Side section of town.

free flu clinics

MONTAGUE — The town health department will hold a free flu vaccine clinic Wednesday , from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Franklin Area Survival Center, 96 4th St, Turners Falls.

The final clinic is scheduled for Nov. 6 at the same hour and in the same location.

There is no fee, but the Montague Board of Health encourages participants to bring their health insurance cards to the clinics and donations are accepted. Clinics are open to all residents older than 6 months.

Montague sewer bills due by Wednesday

MONTAGUE — A reminder to all Town of Montague sewer users that the first-half Fiscal Year 2014 sewer use bills are due by Wednesday.

Payments received after that date are subject to 14 percent interest. To obtain a receipted bill, enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope and both copies of your bill with your payment. Bills may also be paid online at

The tax collectors office is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and until 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays. The Town Hall is closed on Friday.
