FRTA sells off  some of its buses

GREENFIELD — Want to buy a mini-bus? Or two?

The Franklin Regional Transit Authority is selling off a dozen used vehicles, ranging from a car to 10-seat and 18-seat buses, with mileage up to 172,000.

The used vehicles have already been replaced, said FRTA Administrator Tina Cote, adding that the transit authority periodically rotates vehicles in its fleet of nearly 50 buses and last did so about three or four years ago. That was about the same time it last unloaded several vehicles, scrapping those that weren’t in good shape, offering some others to various town departments, such as public works departments or the Northfield Dive Team.

“These are leftover vehicles we’ve had sitting around,” said Cote, adding that the minimum bid on the vehicles sold in “as is” condition, is $500.

Sealed bids, which must be made on official forms provided by the authority and accompanied by a certified check, will be opened by FRTA on Jan. 18
