Frontier students plan fundraiser for trip

SOUTH DEERFIELD — In April 2015, a group of Frontier Regional High School students will stay in Ireland for nine days. But before they can do that, they each need to raise $2,800.

To benefit the trip, the students are having an electronics recycling drop-off event on May 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school.

Technology teacher Kevin Murphy is chaperoning the trip as a way to expose students to different cultures.

The student trip is one among many trips abroad the school sponsors.

Murphy has chaperoned previous school trips to Greece, France and Italy.

Right now, 14 students are planning to attend the trip. It is open to grades 9 through 12.

The cost to recycle different items is $25 for televisions, $15 for CRT monitors and $5 for LCD monitors, computers, laptops, printers, scanners, DVD players, bulk batteries and MP3 players.

Items not accepted include large refrigerators, stoves, fluorescent light bulbs, washer/dryers, treadmills, grills and dishwashers.

The students are also raffling a pair of Boston Red Sox tickets for August.
