Free wellness clinic comes to Charlemont

Starts Tuesday for West County

CHARLEMONT — Public Health Nurse Lisa White of the Franklin Regional Council of Governments will hold a Walk-in Wellness Clinic at Charlemont Federated Church (on Route 2 just east of the intersection with Route 8A) on the second Tuesday of each month starting this week, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, according to the town’s Board of Health and Council on Aging. There is no fee for the service and no appointment is needed.

These nursing services are free to residents of Buckland, Charlemont, Conway, Deerfield, Gill, Hawley, Leyden, Monroe and Shelburne — which are member towns of the Franklin County Cooperative Public Health Service (CPHS), a program of the Franklin Regional Council of Governments.

CPHS walk-in clinics are also held:

∎ Every Wednesday at Deerfield Town Offices from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

∎ The first Friday of each month at Conway Town Hall from 9 a.m. to noon.

∎ Every fourth Tuesday of the month at Shelburne Senior Center from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Basic screenings offered will include: blood pressure; blood glucose (fasting — no food for past eight hours); recommended vaccine schedule (adult and child); recommended medical screenings schedule (adult and child).

The nurse will also assist with medication management, symptom management, information about specific health issues, self-care checklists and referrals for additional care and support.

The nurse can also help connect people with other services and supports that may be helpful. Client visits can be provided both in the home and in community spaces.
