Letter: Public way off limits?
In Saturday’s paper your headline read “Pipeline protest walk begins Monday.” In the first paragraph the article there is mention about “opponents.” Perhaps someone can explain then on page two the stand-alone paragraph, “No photographs will be allowed during the sacred ceremony, according to organizers.”
I do not know who the organizers may be but since when is an activity on public ways off-limits to any photographs?
Even if this is a religious nonprofit group, it does not preclude coverage, including photographs. Or, is it OK for a religious nonprofit group, perhaps legally incorporated, to hide their members’ names? Why did the reporter covering this story simply accept that statement?
