Help for caregivers series in Ashfield

SHELBURNE FALLS — The Senior Center in Shelburne Falls is offering an educational series designed to give overwhelmed family caregivers the tools they need to take care of themselves.

“Powerful Tools for Caregivers” will meet once a week in Ashfield, for six sessions aimed at helping family caregivers reduce stress, improve their self-confidence, communicate feelings better, balance their lives, increase their ability to make tough decisions and find helpful resources.

The program will be taught by experienced class leaders Sue Pratt and Tricia Zoley. The classes are free, but registration is required.

Interactive lessons, discussions and brainstorming will help participants put these tools into action.

Classes will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s Corner House, 469 Main St., Ashfield, from Sept. 20 to Oct. 25. These classes are made possible thanks to grants from the Franklin County Home Care Inc. and the Executive Office of Elder Affairs.

To register, call Leanne Dowd, outreach coordinator, at 625-2502.
